The Blue Halo blanks are tough to beat, and this 3wt model is one of my very favorites.  It’s a great length and weight for eastern mountain streams and my BH 3-weight is my go-to rod for Appalacian browns and brook trout.
 
It’s Smooth like butter. 
 
I went with a brookie-inspired pattern on this custom Blue Halo 7’ 6” 3wt blank. I’ve put the BH 3wt fiberglass blanks to the test while blue lining for “natives”, our beloved Appalachian brook trout, and it’s performed perfectly on tight streams. On my personal one, I regretted not embedding my signature magnetic hook keeper in my custom carbon fiber/fiberglass weave grip, so this one has it. 
 
The stripping guide is an original Mildrum SRMC and running guides are a dark nickel from Snake Brand. I smiled a lot fishing mine and this one is available to purchase. It has one of my custom urethane foam core grip skinned with a carbonfiber/fiberglass weave – tough and easy to maintain.  I put these grips on all my personal rods and I love them. Think glass is heavy?  At just around 4oz (113g), this is a very light fly rod by carbon fiber standards as well.
